Bird Walk at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge

Date & Time: Friday, January 15, 2027 | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Location: Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge (1960 Bio Lab Rd, Titusville, FL)

Meeting Point: WinnDixie on SR. 100 at 9am - we will carpool.

Explore the coastal impoundments, salt marshes, and open waters of Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge during peak wintering season. As one of Florida's premier birding destinations along the Atlantic Flyway, this sanctuary hosts vast numbers of wintering waterfowl, shorebirds, and wading birds. We will scout Black Point Wildlife Drive and adjacent impoundment dikes for wintering ducks, Roseate Spoonbills, Reddish Egrets, American White Pelicans, and soaring raptors. Free and open to birders of all experience levels.

What to Bring: Binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, water, lunch/snacks, and bug spray.

Terrain: Easy, flat unpaved dirt paths, earthen dikes, and wooden boardwalks.

Admission: Refuge entrance fee is $15 per vehicle for carpool drivers without an America the Beautiful pass.
